The critically acclaimed and award-winning Broadway musical COME FROM AWAY will hold a very special one night only performance dedicated to Guide Dogs Victoria on Wednesday 17 July.
With the aim of raising awareness of the vital support the organisation provides for Victorians with low vision or blindness, the COME FROM AWAY company will donate $40.00 to Guide Dogs Victoria from the proceeds of each ticket sold for this performance.
The leading provider of Guide Dogs in Australia, Guide Dogs Victoria is about so much more than dogs. The organisation also offers wider support for people with low vision or blindness through a host of programs and receives less than 10 per cent in Government funding for services other than Guide Dog Mobility, which is reliant on community donations exclusively. The need for its services is greater than ever before, with approximately 15,000 Victorians diagnosed with some form of irreversible vision loss every year.
Reflecting values closely aligned with Guide Dogs Victoria, COME FROM AWAY follows the joyous, incredible real-life journey of 7,000 air passengers who became grounded in Gander, Newfoundland in Canada in the wake of the September 11 tragedy. The small community that invited the ‘come from aways’ into their lives provided hope and humanity to those in need, just as Guide Dogs Victoria is committed to creating welcoming and inclusive communities.
Come From Away is also pleased to welcome these community organisations through the following events:
